Just after our last deadline, GE announced that Jay Ireland was named president and CEO of GE Asset Management (GEAM). In this new role, he became a member of GE’s Executive Council and the GE Corporate Board of Directors. Jay’s been with GE for 27 years, most recently serving as president of NBC Universal Television Stations and Network Operations. Keith Sherin, GE’s senior VP and CFO says, “Jay has a proven ability to build and lead world-class teams and drive success across organizations. He brings a diverse set of accomplishments to his new role and is an excellent choice to oversee the assets of GEAM’s growing client base.” Congrats, Jay!

Larry Clifford was very kind to supply us with this news via email: "Just got the new magazine and knew that I better write immediately. I play in a regular winter tennis group here in Boulder. In a town where you usually get a dumb stare when you say you went to SLU, I found myself paired up one evening with Ted Melhado and John Oliver (79). Three Saints, no pun intended, on the court two thousand miles from Canton. It is a small world.

"Boulder (and Colorado in general) is a great place to live. Funny politics, very liberal and sometimes outright wacky, in a generally conservative state. We moved here from Princeton and we do like living in/near a college town. They seem to bring great activities, restaurants etc. And of course being two hours from some of the best skiing in the world has its benefits. Actually the mountains are great about 10 months of the year. I bought a Coldwell Banker Real Estate office our here 11 years ago and have about 60 Realtors who work for me. The office is in Longmont about 10 miles North of Boulder.

"I had dinner this spring with Debbie Black and Chuck Coldwell. They are still in Westchester and we try to see them at least once a year. Jeff Swarr gets out this way on business and we've been able to share a bottle of wine now and then to catch up. He is still living outside of Philly with his family and all seem to be doing well.

"My kids got the southern bug and both went to Davidson. My daughter Dana graduated this spring and now works in DC. I feel like our graduation in many ways was yesterday. We can't be this old!!! Thanks for keeping us in touch!"

Thank you, Larry! And, yes, OK, we are getting - let's just say - 'older' – especially when I report that I have a neighbor I learned was also a SLU alum, Mike Yeagley: class of 1996! But in the small world category, he’s the second SLU neighbor on my very street in Vienna, VA. Apparently, we’re everywhere! Oh, and if graduation seems in many ways like 'yesterday' to the rest of you, mark your calendars for our 30th Reunion - June 2008 - it'll be here before you know it!
